About the Role
The EDI Coordinator plays a key enabling role in supporting the delivery of Edge Hill University’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy and associated action plans. Working within the Strategic Assurance function, the role focuses on strengthening coordination, consistency and practical support for colleagues leading EDI activity across faculties, departments and professional services.
This is a proactive and influential role, designed to help translate institutional EDI priorities into meaningful, measurable action. The postholder will work closely with the Associate Director of Strategic Assurance to support the implementation and monitoring of the EDI Strategy, contributing to institution‑wide planning, evaluation and reporting. You will lead and deliver a small number of priority EDI projects, ensuring clear governance, measurable outcomes and effective dissemination of learning across the University.
The role provides expert advice, guidance and problem‑solving support to EDI leads, committees and project teams, drawing on current best practice and evidence‑informed approaches. This includes promoting inclusive practice, supporting the effective use of Equality Impact Assessments, and helping colleagues design and deliver targeted improvement interventions aligned with institutional objectives.
You will also play a key role in developing insight and evaluation capability, working with colleagues across HR, Student Services and other teams to analyse quantitative and qualitative EDI data, produce institution‑level reports, and support evidence‑based decision making. The role involves active engagement with staff networks, the Students’ Union, governance groups and senior leaders, as well as coordinating EDI communications, campaigns, events and the administration of the University’s EDI Fund.
Through strong collaboration, organisation and influence, the EDI Coordinator will help strengthen institutional capability, ensure alignment with the University’s strategic plan and charter commitments, and deliver tangible improvements to the experience of staff and students.
As part of the University’s ongoing commitment to redeployment, please note that this vacancy may be withdrawn at any stage of the recruitment process if a suitable redeployee is identified.

About You
You will have experience of supporting or delivering EDI, ‑related activity within a complex organisation, and a strong understanding of how strategy is translated into practical action. You will be confident working across organisational boundaries, supporting multiple stakeholders and balancing advisory, coordination and delivery responsibilities.
You will bring strong analytical and organisational skills, with experience of working with data, evaluation frameworks or insight to inform planning, reporting and improvement activity. You will be comfortable providing evidence‑informed advice, supporting colleagues to implement inclusive practices and contributing to the development of policies, projects or interventions that promote equity and belonging.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, as you will work closely with staff networks, student‑facing teams, governance structures and senior leaders. You will be proactive, collaborative and solutions‑focused, with the ability to navigate complexity and maintain momentum across multiple strands of work.
Above all, you will demonstrate a clear commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and share Edge Hill University’s values and ambition to create an inclusive environment where all staff and students can thrive.
