The Supply Room is currently recruiting on behalf of a primary school in the BS15 area that is looking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide classroom-based support for pupils who require additional help accessing learning and engaging in school life.
This role is best suited to someone with experience supporting children with a range of additional needs, including those who may require extra academic, social, emotional, or behavioural support within the classroom environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and SEND staff to support identified pupils, helping them access the curriculum, develop confidence, and make positive progress throughout the school day.
The Role Will Involve:
- Providing in-class support for pupils requiring additional assistance
- Supporting pupils to engage with learning activities and classroom routines
- Delivering targeted interventions and small-group support where required
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours
- Adapting resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs
- Working closely with class teachers, SEND staff, and other professionals
- Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working within a primary school setting
- Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A patient, proactive, and nurturing approach
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a wider school team
- An understanding of SEND and strategies to support pupil engagement and progress
- Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs or additional needs would be advantageous
Additional Information:
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday
- Immediate start available
- Long-term opportunity with potential to continue into the next academic year
- Based within one school placement
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service would be beneficial to enable a quicker start, although this is not essential
