Job Overview
- Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 per annum
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
- Lunch Break: 1-hour unpaid break
- Holiday Entitlement: 20 days annual leave + bank holidays
- Location: Office-based, with travel to project sites as required

The Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager and working closely with the Executive Team, the Estimator will take responsibility for leading the estimating process, preparing tender documentation, and managing projects through the pre-contract stage.
The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for clients and will be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates within required deadlines, negotiating successful tenders, and ensuring smooth project handover to delivery teams.
This role plays a key part in supporting the company’s commercial objectives and project success.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing estimates and tenders for large commercial fit-out, refurbishment, and new-build projects
- Managing the full tender bid process from initial enquiry through to final submission
- Reviewing and preparing tender documentation, ensuring all bid deliverables are completed accurately
- Analysing specifications, drawings, and supporting documentation to prepare compliant bids, including clarifications and exclusions
- Monitoring market trends and maintaining awareness of competitive advantages within the industry to strengthen bidding strategy
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive and accurate quotations for materials and systems
- Collaborating closely with internal teams throughout the tender process
- Ensuring tenders comply with all health & safety regulations, environmental legislation, quality standards, and company procedures
- Producing accurate net estimates with detailed cost breakdowns
- Identifying value engineering opportunities and commercial advantages throughout the tender process
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Identifying project risks, opportunities, and scope considerations during tender evaluation
- Supporting procurement activities where required
- Attending pre-contract meetings and interviews
Skills & Experience Required
The ideal candidate will have strong commercial awareness and experience evaluating project costs while assessing overall project viability within a technical construction environment.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working within a mechanical and electrical contractor environment
- Proven background in estimating and tendering
- Experience estimating mechanical and/or electrical projects
- Strong understanding of commercial fit-out, refurbishment, or construction projects
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated, ambitious, and driven with a strong desire for career progression
Desirable Qualifications
- Recently qualified or currently working towards a qualification in estimating
- Relevant Building Services qualifications (HNC/HND) or equivalent industry qualifications
