Job Description: Tracheostomy Complex Care Assistant
Client: Adult Female (Complex Care)
Setting: Home Care
Care Package: 2:1 Support
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (8:00am – 8:00pm / 8:00pm – 8:00am, days & nights)
Role Overview
Provide high-quality, person-centred care to a female client with complex clinical needs, including tracheostomy care, ventilator support, and PEG feeding. The role involves supporting all aspects of daily living while ensuring safety, dignity, and comfort at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily tracheostomy care, including cleaning and inner cannula changes
- Prepare, set up, and monitor overnight ventilation
- Monitor respiratory status and carry out suctioning when required
- Administer nebulisers as prescribed
- Deliver PEG feeding twice daily and administer medications via PEG
- Monitor and report signs of infection (UTI, chest infection, C. difficile)
- Provide full 2:1 assistance with personal care (washing, dressing, grooming, hygiene)
- Carry out all hoisting and transfers (bed ↔ wheelchair) using two carers
- Manage urethral catheter care and monitor output
- Deliver pressure area care and repositioning regularly (day and night)
- Maintain accurate documentation and report any changes in condition
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure consistent, high-quality care

- Maintain a clean and safe care environment
- Promote dignity, independence, and wellbeing of the client
- Communicate effectively with family members and healthcare professionals
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour
