The role
As a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager, you will play a key part in delivering high‑quality tax compliance and advisory work to a varied portfolio of UK and international clients. You will take increasing ownership of your own client relationships, manage workstreams from start to finish, and act as a trusted day‑to‑day adviser to clients and colleagues alike. The role sits at a pivotal point between senior associates and managers. You will review work prepared by junior team members, support them in developing their technical and professional skills, and ensure work is delivered accurately, commercially and on time. Alongside this, you will be exposed to a broad range of advisory projects, allowing you to build depth across core UK corporate tax issues and develop the judgement required at manager level. You will work closely with partners and managers, contributing to technical discussions, identifying opportunities to add value for clients, and helping to shape practical, clear advice. This is very much a “manager‑in‑training” role, offering both responsibility and support as you continue to develop your career in corporate tax.
A note from the Hiring Manager
We are looking for someone who is technically curious, commercially minded and keen to take the next step in their career. At Assistant Manager level, the transition is less about knowing every answer already and more about how you think, how you manage work and people, and how you communicate with clients. You will be joining a supportive and collaborative Corporate Tax team that works with a wide range of clients – from owner‑managed businesses to groups with international footprints. We invest heavily in coaching and development, and you will have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced partners and managers while being trusted with real responsibility from day one. If you enjoy variety, value technical quality, and want to work in an environment where you are encouraged to grow and challenge yourself, this is a role where you can genuinely build momentum towards manager and beyond.
