Alpha Steel Ltd is a leading manufacturer and supplier of steel roofing, cladding, and fabrication products. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a reliable and hardworking 7.5 Tonne Driver / Manufacturing Operative to join our team.
This is a varied role combining driving duties with hands-on work within our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering products to customers while also supporting production operations when not on deliveries.
Responsibilities
Driving Duties
- Safely operate a 7.5-tonne vehicle for deliveries and collections.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload products safely.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects.
- Ensure delivery paperwork is completed accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries.
- Follow all road traffic regulations and company procedures.
Manufacturing Duties
- Assist with steel manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Operate production machinery following training.
- Prepare, handle, and move materials throughout the factory.
- Assist with packing and loading finished products.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Support other production and warehouse activities as required.

- Ensure delivery paperwork is completed accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries.
- Follow all road traffic regulations and company procedures.
Skills
- Valid UK Driving Licence with Category C1 (7.5 Tonne entitlement).
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
- Ability and willingness to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills
- Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence.
- Experience in steel, manufacturing, or warehouse environments.
- Experience loading and securing long or heavy materials.
- Knowledge of steel products or construction materials.
