Job Purpose: To support delivery of personalised learning programmes for one to one or small groups, contributing to English, Maths, other academic lessons, and vocational awards. The post holder will be required to deliver personal and social development using outdoor activities, sport, environment, and other social events to monitor and promote positive interactions with peers, staff and the community, both on and off site.
Principal Responsibilities
- To contribute to the teaching of English, Maths and other subjects – principally in small group and one to one settings.
- Contribute to the KS4 vocational curriculum delivering agreed programmes.
- Contribute to the Enrichment curriculum
- Support development to establish learning situations which facilitate the delivery of a curriculum centered on Foundation learning, Functional Skills, Vocational Learning opportunities and Personal and Social Development Skills (PSD).
- Work cooperatively with other staff contributing to different curriculum areas.
Support for pupils
- Establish and maintain supportive relationships with individual pupils, small groups and parents/carers to ensure they understand and can achieve targets set.
- Encourage and promote inclusion in learning situations, ensuring all pupils feel involved with tasks and activities.
- Identify and report potential learning difficulties. Assist in the development and implementation of enhanced support to improve learning.
Support for the curriculum
- Liaise with your lead to develop and deliver the curriculum appropriate for the various groups of students.
- Work within the guidance provided by the school’s Teaching and Learning and Assessment and Monitoring policies.
- Contribute to organising an effective, safe learning environment and oversee the development of appropriate resources and activities as required.
Support for the school
- Bring an enthusiastic and energetic approach to the work of the school.
- Contribute to the development of the school.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and parents/ carers.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings as required.
- Manage additional responsibilities within the organisation, to ensure the smooth running of the school.
- Make suggestions for school events and take a role in organising them as agreed.
- Provide feedback on learning activities and contribute to school review and development planning.
- Contribute to behaviour management within the school and take charge of situations to ensure that the learning environment is calm and well organised, in line with JPAE Behavioural Policy.
- Engage with Performance Management processes, taking responsibility for ongoing CPD, ensuring an up to date knowledge of specific subject areas and wider educational issues.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities, health, safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection; reporting any concerns to the appropriate person to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff.
- Contribute to the supervision of students as required.
- Participate in training events as agreed with the directors (there is a reasonable expectation that training may need to take place outside of contracted time).
- Work within the budget allocated by the directors.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
