Join Our Nursery Team
Otley Street Community Nursery School is looking to appoint a skilled, enthusiastic, and caring Advanced Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated nursery team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-quality early years setting where children are encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and colleagues to support children’s learning and development through high-quality interactions, targeted interventions, and play-based learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Key Person for a group of children, building strong relationships with children and their families.
- Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning experiences in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Lead targeted interventions and small-group activities to support children’s progress and development.
- Observe, assess, and record children’s learning, contributing to learning journals and assessment processes.
- Support children’s communication and language development through high-quality interactions and purposeful play.
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children.
- Support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), adapting provision where appropriate.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and inclusion for all children.
- Help maintain an engaging, safe, and stimulating learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
- Contribute to safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare procedures across the nursery.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare, or Supporting Teaching and Learning. A commitment to further training.
- Experience of working within an early years or nursery setting.
- A secure understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
- Knowledge of child development and effective strategies to support early learning.
- Experience of observing, assessing, and recording children’s progress.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- A commitment to inclusive practice and supporting children with additional needs.
- A positive, proactive, and reflective approach to their work.
