Location: Memorial Woodlands & Meadows of Peace, South Gloucestershire
Salary: £35,000–£42,000 DOE

Direct Reports: 2 Groundsmen
PURPOSE
To oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance and development of Memorial Woodlands and Meadows of Peace, ensuring the highest standards of presentation, burial operations, woodland management and visitor experience. The postholder will supervise grounds staff, manage annual work programmes, undertake grave excavation and backfilling, operate machinery and assist in the long-term development of the estate. This is a leadership role. The successful candidate will report and work closely with the existing management team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Grounds and Estate Management and Maintenance.
Oversee and manage a small team.
Manage and carry out burial operations.
Maintain and operate machinery and equipment.
Be capable of planning and organisation, including an agreed annual programme of works.
Have an appreciation of and undertake, with training, Health and Safety oversite.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Grounds maintenance or estate management experience.
- Experience supervising staff.
- Excavator and machinery operation experience.
- Good organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- A willingness to work outdoors in all seasons.
DESIRABLE
- Chainsaw certification.
- Tractor experience.
- First Aid qualification.
- Forestry, arboriculture or countryside management background.
- Health & Safety training.
PERSONAL QUALITIES INCLUDE:
- Practical, hands-on and self-motivated.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- High standards of presentation and workmanship.
- Comfortable working around bereaved families and liaising with visitors to the site.
- Interest in conservation, woodland management and nature recovery.
- Able to balance immediate operational requirements with long-term estate development.
Pay: £35,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
