About the Role
Cranswick Farms Division are based predominantly in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, breeding and rearing pigs to Red Tractor and RSPCA standards.
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join the team. This position will support the Finance function and play a key role in ensuring the efficient running of financial operations across a range of business areas. We are looking for an organised and proactive individual who enjoys working with financial data, improving processes, and supporting business performance through accurate reporting and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts in line with Group Finance deadlines.
- Prepare general ledger journals, profit and loss reviews, variance analysis, stock management reports, and KPI reporting.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations accurately and within deadlines.
- Develop and maintain key business cost trackers to support effective financial control.
- Produce financial reports and analysis for individual sites and business units.
- Oversee and support the Purchase Ledger function, including reviewing and posting purchase invoices.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes and enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide support and guidance to Purchase Ledger Clerks where required.
- Play an active role in finance improvement projects, including system implementations and process development initiatives.
- Support the integration of stock management into finance systems and the transition to future accounting platforms.
About You
- Previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant role.
- Currently studying towards, or recently completed, a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA.
- Passionate about process improvement, automation, and the effective use of technology.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to work effectively to tight deadlines.
- IT literate with good Microsoft Excel skills.
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Committed to continuous learning and self-improvement.
- Able to work collaboratively with colleagues across different business functions.
