Trauma-informed Behaviour Teaching Assistant
Richmond, South West London
£475–£550 per week (PAYE) | Full Time | Term Time Only | Temp to Perm
September 2026
Every young person deserves someone who genuinely believes in them. Are you that person?
For many young people, school has meant frustration, disconnection, and unmet potential. With the right person in their corner, that story changes.
This is a rare opportunity to join a growing specialist setting in South West London that puts neurodivergent students at the heart of everything it does. Underpinned by a trauma-informed philosophy and led by a senior team that truly values alternative education, this school is building something that lasts for young people who deserve so much better than what they have experienced before.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Trauma-informed Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will work directly with autistic young people who have faced significant barriers on their educational journey. Your role is not to fix them, it's to show up consistently, hold the space, and remind them that someone believes in their future.
You will re-engage students using your trauma-informed knowledge, build trust where trust has broken down, and contribute to a team that is genuinely changing lives one young person at a time.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Experience in SEMH settings, youth work, residential care, or custodial/prison environments
- A deep understanding of the challenges young people from disadvantaged backgrounds face
- A calm, grounded, and resilient approach, especially when things get hard
- Genuine empathy and the belief that every young person has the potential to thrive
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approaches
