Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Woodford
Hours: 8:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: £85–£105 per day, based on experience.
Job Overview
Support pupils aged 3–16 with autism, learning difficulties, and additional needs in a specialist SEN school setting. As a Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant you will help pupils access learning, build confidence, and take part in school life within a safe, structured, and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Support children with special educational needs, including those with autism and other disabilities, within classroom settings.
- Assist teachers in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies.
- Provide one-to-one support to pupils requiring additional assistance, including toddlers and young children.
- Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging participation and engagement among pupils.
- Support with daily routines such as organisation of activities, behaviour management, and personal care if required.
- Communicate effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents to ensure consistent support for each child's development.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes learning and social interaction.
Experience
- Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is desirable.
- Knowledge of working with individuals with autism or in special education settings is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's development.
- Ability to work as part of a team within a busy school environment.
- Flexibility and patience when working with diverse learners, including toddlers.
- No formal qualifications are required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential qualities for success in this role.
