Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Forklift Driver/Production Operative to join our team. This role involves operating forklifts and supporting various production activities within our production environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for materials handling, shipping and receiving, and assisting with equipment maintenance. Prior warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge are highly desirable, along with the ability to perform heavy lifting safely. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a dynamic logistics setting.
We're looking for someone to work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 18-24 hours, there is the opportunity for more hours provided targets are being hit. Following a successful probation period the wage will increase to £13.50 an hour.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and transport materials across the warehouse
- Manage stock levels using Warehouse Management System (WMS) software
- Assist with shipping and receiving procedures, ensuring accurate documentation and timely processing of goods
- Conduct basic equipment repairs or notify maintenance teams of any faults or issues
- Handle materials carefully, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Support production activities by preparing materials for manufacturing processes
- Perform heavy lifting tasks as required, maintaining proper lifting techniques to prevent injury
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment at all times
- Assist in inventory counts and stock organisation as needed
Qualifications
- Valid forklift licence with proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse setting
- Previous warehouse experience is preferred, particularly in materials handling and shipping & receiving
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with equipment repair is advantageous
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management System (WMS) software is desirable
- Basic maths skills for inventory counting and documentation purposes
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
