PTSL has an excellent opportunity for a skilled Production Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Production Lead, you will support the efficient assembly, testing, and maintenance of probe cards and printed circuit assemblies.
You will play a key role in operating high-precision electro-mechanical systems, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining quality standards throughout the production process. This role also involves diagnosing and repairing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to component level, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining accurate production documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Production Assembly
- Set up and calibrate manufacturing equipment for production runs
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults to minimise downtime
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency and adherence to specifications
- Assist in the assembly and production of probe cards
- Carry out in-process quality checks and report defects or discrepancies
- Work closely with production teams to meet output and quality targets
- Support process improvements to increase efficiency and product quality
Health & Safety
- Follow all safety procedures when operating machinery and equipment
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety regulations
- Participate in safety training and promote a safe working environment
- Maintain clean and organised work areas, including cleanroom environments where applicable
- Safely handle tools, equipment, and materials
- Adhere to manual handling and physical safety requirements
Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of equipment settings and configurations
- Log maintenance activities, repairs, and troubleshooting actions
- Update process and equipment documentation regularly
- Record production and quality data using production management systems
- Ensure all documentation complies with company standards
- Interpret schematic circuitry and components to support fault finding and repairs
Ad Hoc Duties
- Provide training and technical support to production operators
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams
- Assist with inventory tracking of tools, spare parts, and consumables
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (efficiency, waste reduction, quality)
- Adapt to shift work, overtime, and changing production demands
- Carry out additional tasks as required in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
What We’re Looking For
- HNC / HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
- Minimum 1 year of experience in electronic component testing
- Strong electro-mechanical and diagnostic skills
- Ability to debug to component level
- Logical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience working with high-precision equipment and manufacturing processes
- Desirable: Knowledge of or certification to relevant IPC standards
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
