Overview
We're looking for a self-employed HGV Class 1 driver with skeletal trailer and container experience. This is flexible, long-distance tramping work.
Days/Nights: Monday - Friday
Weekends: Occasional availabilities
Responsibilities
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including flatbed trucks for container transportation
- Manage and complete delivery runs across multiple locations, adhering to scheduled timings
- Load and unload containers efficiently, ensuring secure fastening and compliance with safety regulations
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with clients and dispatch teams
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, including tachograph regulations and drivers’ hours legislation
- Assist with the securing of loads to prevent movement during transit
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times during operations
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with HGV Class 1 vehicles
- Strong knowledge of container operation and skeletal handling procedures
- Delivery driver experience with a focus on logistics and timely deliveries
- Excellent organisational skills to manage routes efficiently and maintain paperwork accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high safety standards
- Good communication skills for liaising with clients, dispatchers, and colleagues
- Valid UK driving licence for HGV Class 1 vehicles, with no recent disqualifications or restrictions
Payment terms:
- £925 per week including nights allowance
- Weekly payment via BACS
- Regular ongoing work

- Full-time PAYE position available after a contractual qualifying period
