Sure Staffing UK Ltd is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Technician to join their Fleet Services team.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term role with a respected local authority, working Monday to Friday with no weekend shifts.
The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting a diverse fleet of vehicles, including:
- Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs)
- Light Commercial Vehicles
- Municipal and Specialist Fleet Vehicles
- Electric and Hybrid Vehicles
Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and repair HGVs and other Council vehicles
- Diagnose and rectify hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical faults
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and safety checks
- Carry out welding, fabrication, and bodywork repairs as required
- Attend vehicle breakdowns and repair accident-damaged vehicles
- Complete all maintenance records accurately and efficiently
- Ensure high standards of workshop housekeeping and health & safety compliance
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
✅ Level 3 City & Guilds in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering (or equivalent)
✅ Full UK Driving Licence with Category C entitlement (Essential)
✅ DVSA Inspection & Testing Qualification
✅ Previous experience maintaining and repairing HGVs
✅ Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
✅ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
