We're an independent, family-run plumbers merchant that's been serving Leicester's trade and retail customers for 40+ years. Many of our team have been here over a decade. Several over two decades. That's not by accident. You won't be a cog in a corporate chain here; our staff are trusted, given real responsbility, and recognised for the work they do.
The role
This is a sales role at heart. You'll be juggling the counter, the phones, and the email enquiries, and turning them into orders. One minute you're quoting a contractor over the phone for a heating job, the next you're serving a plumber across the counter, the next you're following up on a quote from yesterday to close it.
The people who do well in this role are proactive. They don't wait for the phone to ring, they pick it up. They notice when a regular customer hasn't ordered in a while and give them a call. They spot an upsell and suggest it naturally. Most importantly, they build relationships so customers ask for them by name.
Day to day, that means:
- Handling trade and retail customers across the counter, by phone, and by email
- Producing quotes, processing orders, and following up to win the business
- Building lasting relationships with plumbers, contractors, and retail customers so they come back
- Spotting opportunities; upsells, alternative products, and new customer projects
- Sorting problems on the spot: stock issues, delivery queries, technical questions
- The occasional site delivery when we're busy (full UK driving licence essential)
As a bonus, there is also a new bathroom showroom opening alongside the counter, so there'll be variety and room to grow into that side over time.

- Are proactive, you go after the business, you don't wait for it
- Can juggle multiple things at once without dropping the ball
- Think on your feet and solve problems rather than passing them on
- Have plumbing, heating or merchant background (strongly preferred as it shortens your learning curve)
- Are comfortable on computer systems and happy to learn ours
- Want to be part of a team, not just clock in and clock out

Pay: Up to £33,000.00 per year
