Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Barback to join our vibrant hospitality team on a casual basis. The ideal candidate will assist bartenders and bar staff in maintaining a clean, well-stocked bar environment, ensuring smooth service and an excellent customer experience. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills within the hospitality industry, particularly in food and drink service, while working in a lively and fast-paced setting. Previous experience in restaurant, hotel, or barista roles is advantageous but not essential. A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn are key qualities we value.
Duties
- Restock bar supplies including spirits, mixers, glassware, and garnishes to ensure seamless service
- Assist bartenders with preparing garnishes and basic food preparation as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including cleaning glassware and wiping surfaces regularly
- Support with setting up and clearing tables or bar areas during service shifts
- Ensure all health and safety standards are adhered to at all times
- Respond promptly to staff requests for supplies or assistance
- Help with inventory management by tracking stock levels and reporting shortages
- Engage courteously with customers when appropriate, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere
Experience
- Previous experience in hospitality, food preparation, or restaurant environments is preferred
- Experience working as a barista or in hotel service roles is beneficial
- Familiarity with serving procedures and customer interaction skills are advantageous
- Strong communication skills are essential for effective teamwork and customer engagement
- Knowledge of basic kitchen operations or food presentation can be an asset
- No formal experience required; training will be provided for the right candidate who demonstrates enthusiasm and a proactive attitude
Important: This is a casual / zero-hours position. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours; shifts are offered and accepted on a flexible basis with no obligation on either side. Applicants must be 18 or over (licensed premises).
