Night Residential Childcare Practitioner
Make a difference while the world sleeps.
Are you calm, compassionate and committed to helping children and young people feel safe, supported and understood? We are looking for a Night Residential Childcare Practitioner to join our residential childcare team and provide consistent, high-quality care throughout the night.
In this rewarding role, you will help create a safe, nurturing and structured home environment where children and young people can build resilience, develop positive routines and feel genuinely cared for. You will be part of a supportive team that places safeguarding, emotional wellbeing and positive relationships at the heart of everything it does.
About the role
As a Night Residential Childcare Practitioner, you will support children and young people overnight, ensuring their physical, social and emotional needs are met in line with care and placement plans. You may work regular or ad-hoc night shifts depending on the needs of the service, while maintaining the same high professional standards expected across the home.
What you’ll be doing
- Always safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Providing a calm, nurturing and consistent presence throughout the night.
- Promoting structure, boundaries and positive routines within the home.
- Supporting children and young people with emotional wellbeing, resilience and positive behaviour.
- Working in line with individual care plans, placement plans, policies and procedures.
- Maintaining clear records, completing handovers and reporting any concerns promptly.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families, agencies and professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
- Taking part in training, supervision and team meetings to support your ongoing development.
About you
You will be someone who is patient, reliable and able to remain professional in challenging situations. You may already have experience in residential childcare, social care, support work, youth work or a similar setting, or you may be ready to bring your transferable skills into a role where you can have a lasting impact.
Most importantly, you will share our commitment to providing safe, child-centred care and helping children and young people feel valued, respected and supported.
Why join us?
- A meaningful role where your work directly supports children and young people.
- The opportunity to be part of a dedicated and supportive residential childcare team.
- Ongoing training and development to help you grow in your role.
- A chance to contribute to a safe, stable and nurturing home environment.
- Varied night work where no two shifts are exactly the same.
