Are you an experienced Classics Teacher looking for a Head of Department opportunity from September? This Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Watford is seeking a Head of Classics & Latin to join their department on a full-time, permanent basis.
The school has a strong academic reputation, supportive leadership and a positive learning environment across the Humanities faculty.
What you’ll be doing:
Teaching Classics and Latin across KS3–KS5
Leading the Classics department and supporting curriculum development
Driving attainment and enrichment opportunities within the subject area
Supporting intervention strategies and departmental planning
Preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
What we’re looking for:
Qualified Teacher (QTS or equivalent) with experience teaching Classics and/or Latin
Experience teaching across KS3–KS5
Previous leadership experience or readiness to step into leadership
Strong subject knowledge and classroom management
Ability to engage and inspire students within a high-achieving department
