An exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly qualified or early-career Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Acute Speech and Language Therapy Team.
This is a generalist rotational role within acute services, offering the opportunity to develop skills in the assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders in adult patients across a range of clinical areas.
You will work closely with experienced therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
The successful candidate will demonstrate good communication, teamwork, and organisational skills and is committed to developing clinical knowledge. They will work independently with appropriate support and supervision.

We will provided preceptorship and induction programme, clinical supervision and support from senior therapists, opportunities for rotations and skill development across specialties and access to a range of training and CPD opportunities
Provide assessment and treatment for patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties under supervision
Manage a defined caseload, prioritising and organising workload effectively
Deliver evidence-based therapy programmes and support safe swallowing management
Work collaboratively with ward teams, dietitians, nurses, and medical staff
Contribute to patient and carer education, including communication strategies and dietary advice
Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional standards
Take part in training, supervision, and service development activities
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.
