Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our award Home Tuxford Manor Care Home, as Cook. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic kitchen environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with food ordering, preparation, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and supporting the overall operation of our restaurant. Previous experience in a similar setting is advantageous. This position is ideal for individuals who take a huge amount of pride in their cooking, and baking. You will be responsible for developing menus, providing nutritious meals and drinks in line with Care plans and dietician recommendations, cooking for themed events, and giving our Residents an appetising experience every meal time.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation / cooking , including chopping, peeling, and assembling ingredients
- Ensuring dishes are prepared to high standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in accordance with food safety regulations
- Meal assembly and presentation to ensure timely service
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to uphold hygiene standards
- Support serving staff during busy periods by delivering meals and attending to customer needs when required
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory checks to ensure freshness and availability of ingredients
- Contribute positively to team efforts, maintaining a professional attitude at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant service is desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy department whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Willingness to learn new skills and develop culinary knowledge
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential for success in this role
