Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team and to work with our local authority client. This role involves providing high-quality care and support to children in a residential setting, ensuring their safety, well-being, and development. The successful candidates will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential. Experience working with children and strong communication skills are essential for this position.
Duties
- Offer personalised care and emotional support to children in accordance with individual care plans
- Assist with daily routines, including mealtimes, personal hygiene, and recreational activities
- Support children in developing social skills and independence through engaging activities
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress and behaviour, adhering to organisational policies
- Collaborate with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure consistent care delivery
- Drive children safely to appointments, activities, or outings as required
- Contribute to the creation and review of care plans tailored to each child's needs
- Ensure a safe and secure environment by always adhering to health and safety regulations
Experience
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare or residential setting is highly desirable
- Knowledge of child development principles and child protection procedures
- Proficiency in using IT systems for record keeping and communication purposes
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children and colleagues
- Valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate transportation responsibilities
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts as required by the organisation
Requirements
- Must have a minimum of 6 months UK experience in children's residential homes working with vulnerable children and young people
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care is highly desirable
- Must have a UK driving licence
- Must have an Adults & Children DBS on the update service
- Must be able to commit to attending face-to-face training
- Must have access to a phone/laptop/tablet to complete online training.
