Opportunity Overview
We are looking for an experienced HR and Training Consultant to support the business on a flexible part-time basis, equivalent to 3 days per week.
This is a practical delivery role, not a theoretical advisory assignment. We need someone who can come in, assess what is needed, build the right structure, and deliver tangible improvements across HR processes, management capability and apprenticeship development.
The consultant will work closely with the leadership team and managers to ensure people processes are being followed correctly, managers are properly supported with HR issues, and the business has a clear, effective approach to management and leadership training.
A major deliverable will be the creation and implementation of an apprenticeship scheme, including the selection of appropriate standards, training providers, processes and governance.

- Support managers with live HR issues, including performance, conduct, absence, probation, grievances and general employee relations matters.
- Provide commercially practical HR advice aligned with UK employment law.
- Improve the consistency and quality of people management across the business.
- Review and refine HR policies, templates and process documentation where needed.

Management and Leadership Training
The consultant will:
- Design and deliver practical management and leadership training.
- Create training materials suitable for the business and its managers.
- Cover areas such as performance management, difficult conversations, delegation, feedback, communication, team leadership and accountability.
- Deliver training in a way that is engaging, relevant and easy for managers to apply.
- Provide recommendations for ongoing management development.
Apprenticeship Scheme
The consultant will:
- Design and set up an apprenticeship scheme for the business.
- Identify suitable apprenticeship standards and pathways.
- Research and recommend appropriate training providers.
- Advise on funding, levy use or available support where relevant.
- Create the internal process for apprenticeship recruitment, onboarding, management and progress reviews.
- Work with managers to identify suitable apprenticeship opportunities.
- Establish reporting and governance so the scheme can be managed properly.
Required Experience
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong UK HR generalist experience.
- A proven track record supporting managers with employee relations matters.
- Experience designing and delivering management or leadership training.
- Experience setting up or managing apprenticeship schemes, or demonstrable knowledge of the apprenticeship system.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and practical HR risk management.
- Ability to work independently and deliver without heavy supervision.
- Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent experience preferred.
- A commercial, pragmatic and delivery-focused approach.

- Updated or improved HR process documentation where needed.
- A management and leadership training programme.
- Delivery of agreed training sessions.
- A complete apprenticeship scheme framework.
- Recommendations for ongoing HR and training priorities.
