2Fawcett Recruitment are supporting a well-established and growing engineering organisation within the rail sector in their search for a Mechanical Project Engineer / Senior Projects Engineer.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking business delivering rolling stock modification and refurbishment projects across passenger and freight fleets.
The Role
You will play a key role in leading engineering projects from concept through to installation, ensuring delivery is achieved to the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading rolling stock engineering projects across multiple fleets
- Managing and mentoring a small team of design engineers
- Working closely with customers, contractors, and internal teams
- Supporting on-site installations and resolving technical challenges
- Driving design improvements and contributing to engineering strategy
- Ensuring compliance with engineering standards and change processes
About You
We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in project delivery within the rail industry.
You will have:
- Experience in rolling stock engineering (mechanical, electrical, or interiors)
- Proven ability to manage projects and lead engineering teams
- Experience using 2D/3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks or similar)
- A solid understanding of engineering change and compliance processes
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
Qualifications:
- Degree or HND in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or similar)
- Professional membership (IMechE, IET, etc.) desirable
- Chartered status is advantageous but not essential
