Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to support children with behavioural, emotional, or developmental needs. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, teachers, and families to promote positive behaviour and learning. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement behaviour management plans tailored to individual children's needs, utilising applied behaviour analysis techniques where appropriate
- Support children during classroom activities, providing guidance in areas such as speech therapy, maths, and physical education
- Assist with early childhood education programmes, including toddler care and preschool activities
- Foster positive relationships through mentoring and tutoring to enhance social and emotional development
- Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, and other specialists to create personalised learning strategies
- Monitor behavioural progress and provide regular feedback to parents and staff
- Support children with special educational needs by adapting activities and providing targeted interventions
- Maintain accurate records of behavioural incidents and progress reports
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment conducive to learning and development
Requirements
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including preschool or toddler care experience preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and special education needs
- Skills in behaviour management techniques, including applied behaviour analysis (ABA) methods
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and colleagues
- Background in teaching or tutoring across subjects such as maths or physical education is advantageous
- Familiarity with speech therapy techniques and proof-reading skills are beneficial for supporting literacy development
- Ability to mentor children effectively while demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism
- Relevant qualifications in early childhood education, special education, or related fields are desirable
- Proven ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment that promotes child wellbeing and development
