Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Laundry Assistant to join our team at Devonshire Nursing Home. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing laundry operations during weekend shifts, ensuring that all residents’ clothing and linens are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. This role is essential to providing a comfortable and hygienic environment for our residents, and your attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness will directly contribute to their well-being.
Duties
- Sort, wash, dry, and fold laundry, including residents' clothing, bed linens and towels.
- Ensure proper labelling of all personal items to avoid mix-ups and to be put back in the correct rooms.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the laundry room, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Work with the care team to ensure all laundry is processed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Handle and store laundry products safely, ensuring the correct use of detergents and cleaning agents.
- Follow all infection control protocols to ensure hygienic laundry practices.
- Report any damaged items or laundry equipment issues to the management team.
Skills
- Previous experience in a laundry assistant role required, ideally in a healthcare or residential setting but other areas would be considered.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures related to laundry and cleaning products.
- Friendly and compassionate demeanour with the ability to work as part of a team.
Pay Rate: £12.75 per hour, plus a 50p per hour weekend enhancement.
Hours Required: Saturdays and Sundays, working either 8:00am–2:00pm or 9:00am–3:00pm.
