New Directions Education are recruiting for a pool of passionate, resilient, and experienced HLTA’s to work within a Alternative Provision School in Bradford. We want to hear from candidates who have:
- HLTA status or relevant experience in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support strategies.
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to lead learning activities independently.
- Team Teach training (or other behaviour intervention training) is desirable but not essential.
You will be working with pupils across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, providing tailored support both in and out of the classroom. The role involves:
- Delivering planned learning activities and covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
- Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis and in small group interventions.
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to plan, deliver, and assess learning.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents/carers, and external professionals.
- Supporting the wider school team in creating a nurturing, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
