UCL is undergoing significant organisational change through service simplification and workforce transformation. Supporting colleagues who are at risk of redundancy to secure suitable alternative employment within the institution is a strategic priority, both to retain skills and capability and to minimise compulsory redundancies.
The Redeployment Manager plays a critical operational role within the Recruitment Operations team, working at pace with redeployees and hiring managers to actively match skills to vacancies, increase redeployment outcomes, and embed redeployment as a routine and credible route to filling vacancies across UCL.
This role is outcome-focused and target-driven, with clear expectations around redeployment rates, throughput of redeployees supported, and the proportion of vacancies filled through redeployment.
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused Redeployment Manager to lead the operational delivery of UCL’s redeployment and internal mobility activity during periods of organisational change. This is a highly collaborative role that sits at the intersection of recruitment, workforce planning and employee support, helping colleagues at risk of redundancy to navigate their next career step within UCL.
You will provide tailored one-to-one guidance to employees, helping them identify transferable skills, build confidence and access suitable opportunities across the organisation. Working closely with hiring managers, HR Business Partners and Recruitment colleagues, you will champion redeployment as a positive and effective route to filling vacancies, while ensuring processes are fair, timely and aligned to policy.
The role requires a proactive and solutions-focused approach, balancing empathy and professionalism in sensitive situations while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Alongside supporting individual colleagues, you will use data and insight to monitor redeployment activity, identify trends and drive measurable improvements in internal mobility outcomes. You will also design and deliver employability workshops, including CV and interview coaching, to support colleagues through transition and change.
Additionally this role may involve working alongside the internal recruitment team to support recruitment across our Vice President Offices including direct sourcing/headhunting and end-to-end vacancy management.
Please note, this role is offered on a hybrid working basis with currently a minimum of 3-days per week in our London Kings Cross office (subject to change).

You will bring significant experience in redeployment, recruitment operations, internal mobility or high-volume recruitment within a complex organisation, alongside a strong commitment to delivering an excellent colleague experience during periods of change.
You will be confident coaching and supporting individuals at risk of redundancy, with the ability to assess transferable skills, identify realistic career pathways and build constructive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Skilled in influencing and advising hiring managers, you will be comfortable challenging decisions where appropriate and ensuring redeployment processes are applied consistently and fairly.
Highly organised and resilient, you will be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism in sensitive situations. You will also be confident working with recruitment systems, workforce data and reporting tools to track outcomes and inform decision-making.
Most importantly, you will bring a pragmatic, collaborative and people-centred approach, with a genuine passion for helping colleagues successfully transition into new opportunities across UCL. Experience within Higher Education or supporting organisational change programmes would be advantageous, but is not essential.
