Job Title: Children’s Residential Practitioner
Location: Leeds (Middleton)
Duration: 2–4 Months Initially
Pay Rate: £14.82 per hour (PAYE) | £19.20 per hour (Umbrella)
Shift Pattern
This role involves a flexible rota including:
- Late shifts: 10:30am – 10:30pm
- Day shifts: 9:00am – 4:00/5:00pm (occasionally)
- Sleep-in shifts: 10:00am – 11:00pm / Sleep / 7:00am – 11:00am
Please note: due to the needs of the service, some sleep-in shifts may require staff to remain awake overnight.
Role Overview
Seven Resourcing is recruiting for experienced Children’s Residential Practitioners to support a residential children’s home in Middleton, Leeds.
The home currently supports three children with challenging behaviours who are otherwise settled and well supported. The service is looking for resilient, compassionate, and experienced residential childcare professionals who can provide stability, structure, and trauma-informed support.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and support to children within a residential setting
- Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
- Support children with emotional and behavioural needs using trauma-informed approaches
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children and young people
- Assist with daily routines, activities, education support, and independent living skills
- Maintain accurate records and complete incident reports where required
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals
- Manage challenging behaviours calmly, professionally, and consistently
- Ensure the home environment remains safe, supportive, and nurturing
Requirements
- Previous experience working within a children’s residential home setting
- Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification or relevant qualification in Youth Work, Child Development, or similar
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding procedures
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts including sleep-ins
- Strong resilience, emotional awareness, and ability to manage challenging situations professionally
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
