About the role
Autism In Mind is looking for a compassionate and skilled person to work as part of the Enhanced Primary Care Team, to provide psychoeducation and practical coping strategies to adults who do not have a diagnosis of autism or ADHD but are demonstrating traits often associated with them.
This is a new role under a new contract and as such you will join the service at a very exciting time during which you will support AIM in setting up the service and the associated support provisions for the future.
Your time will mainly be spent delivering pre-prepared course content to adults who show traits of Autism/ADHD and 1:1 support sessions with them.
This is a varied role which includes:
· Delivering a structured programme of support in group and 1:1 settings
· Completing initial assessments with adults to identify functional support needs and their willingness to engage in the programme.
· Facilitating a 5-week psychoeducational course to clients as part of a planned 8-week intervention
· 1:1 sessions with clients to develop a personal needs plan
· Providing a structured written summary of individual need for GPs
· Identifying physical and health needs and coordinating with the Enhanced Primary Care MDT to ensure needs are addressed appropriately, with onward referrals made where support falls outside the scope of primary care services.
· Recording and processing client data and AIM interactions in the NHS-owned EMIS online system
About you
You’ll bring empathy, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and a genuine commitment to supporting adult clients who demonstrate ADHD or autistic traits.
You’ll need the following essential experience:
NHS Experience in multi-disciplinary teams
Experience in delivering training and/or support in group settings
An ability to identify vulnerabilities and understand reasonable adjustment needs
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Confidence working independently and as part of a team
IT literacy (Microsoft Office and CRM systems).
You may have the following desirable experience:
Lived experience of neurodiversity, whether professionally or in your private life
Knowledge of recording interventions in EMIS Online
A driving licence
