Redditch Borough Council is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Temporary Accommodation Officer to suport a busy Temporary Accommodation service.
This is a key frontline role providing safe, suitable temporary accommodation across the borough for households experiencing homelessness and acts a key link between the residents and homeless officers
Key Responsibilities

Carry out regular visits to temporary accommodation properties to assess condition, occupancy, and compliance

Ensure properties meet health & safety standards through regular inspections

Identify maintenance issues, disrepair, and safeguarding concerns, escalating where necessary

Manage occupation charge accounts and take action as required

Support placements by verifying suitability of accommodation for households

Maintain accurate records of visits, inspections, and follow-up actions and meet performance targets

Support the team leader and homelessness team with placement decisions

Support vulnerable households, referring to appropriate statutory and voluntary services where needed

Monitor occupancy levels and report unauthorised use or breaches of agreement

Work collaboratively with internal and external agencies

Assist with move-on planning and reducing reliance on temporary accommodation
Due to the operational demands of the service this post is predominantly field based
Skills & Experience
-
Experience in temporary accommodation, tenancy management, or a housing related field (essential)
-
Confidently apply and interpret homelessness legislation and temporary accommodation duties (essential)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to deal confidently with vulnerable clients and challenging situations
-
Good attention to detail and accurate record keeping

Ability to prioritise workload and manage a field-based role effectively
-
Full UK driving licence (or ability to travel between properties)
