Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Head Installer to lead our installation team and take responsibility for the quality, safety and consistency of on-site signage installations.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who enjoys being on the tools while also setting standards and taking ownership of how installations are delivered. The Head Installer plays a key role in ensuring work is completed safely, to specification and with a strong focus on workmanship and professionalism.
The role involves leading installation teams on site, coordinating day-to-day installation activity and acting as the main point of contact for installers and mates while on site. You will be responsible for ensuring installations are completed correctly first time, dealing with issues as they arise, and maintaining high standards of presentation and behaviour when working on client sites.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager and Project Managers to plan installations, provide realistic feedback on access, timings and requirements, and help resolve site-based challenges. The role carries authority to make practical on-the-ground decisions to keep work moving safely and efficiently, without unnecessary escalation.
Part of the role is supporting and mentoring other installers, setting a clear example of best practice and addressing issues around workmanship, attitude or site conduct when needed. You should be comfortable giving clear direction and stepping in early when standards slip.
Health and safety is a core responsibility of the role. You will be expected to ensure safe systems of work are followed, RAMS are understood on site, and installations are carried out in line with regulations and company procedures.
This is not a desk-based or purely supervisory role. You will be expected to remain technically strong, lead from the front and be confident installing a wide range of signage types across different environments and fixing methods.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience installing signage or a related industry with transferable skills, be confident working at height, interpreting drawings and solving site-based problems. Electrical knowledge, fabrication awareness and experience dealing professionally with clients on site would be an advantage.
Our work isn’t all local and it’s not all 9–5. We cover a fairly wide area, so there will be times you’re working away for a few days or up to a week. We also do work in places like shopping centres and retail parks, so some jobs are done early morning, evenings or occasionally at night. It’s not constant, and we will make sure it is handled fairly with time off in lieu or additional pay where appropriate.
The successful candidate will be reliable, calm under pressure and well-respected by others on site. You should take pride in workmanship, value consistency and safety, and be comfortable being accountable for how installations are delivered.
After an initial settling-in period, installations should run more smoothly, fewer issues should need to be escalated back to the office, and on-site standards should be visibly higher and more consistent.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £24,420.00-£45,000.00 per year
