Job Purpose
We are currently looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and behaviours that challenge within a specialist setting in Lea Hall.
This rewarding Teaching Assistant role involves supporting pupils to access learning, develop communication skills, and regulate emotions within a highly structured environment. Local specialist provisions in the area support pupils with a combination of learning and behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities – Teaching & Learning Support
- Provide 1:1 and small group TA support
- Implement individual behaviour support plans
- Support communication using visual strategies
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists
- Promote pupil engagement, confidence, and independence
Person Requirements
- Experience supporting autism and/or behaviours that challenge
- Calm and consistent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain resilient in a fast-paced environment
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two satisfactory references
Qualifications
No formal qualifications required
Relevant experience required, including:
- Support work
- Care work
- Tutoring
- Teaching Assistant work
- SEND school experience
