The Role
We are looking for a proactive Purchaser to take ownership of purchasing and subcontracting activities. This is a hands-on role requiring urgency, organisation, and accountability to ensure materials and subcontracted work are ordered, tracked, and delivered in line with production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and manage purchase orders for materials, components, and subcontracted services
- Organise and manage subcontracting, including machining, finishing, coating, and specialist processes
- Issue drawings, specifications, and instructions to suppliers and subcontractors
- Monitor lead times and chase deliveries to avoid production delays
- Liaise closely with Production, Stores, and Accounts to align priorities
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and turnaround times
- Maintain accurate purchasing and subcontracting records
- Resolve delivery issues, invoice queries, and non-conformances promptly

- Experience in purchasing within manufacturing or engineering
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Proactive, reliable, and detail-focused approach
- Confident communicator with suppliers and internal teams
- Good IT skills, including Excel and ERP or purchasing systems
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site environment
