Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching English language and literature, with the ability to inspire students and foster a love for reading and writing. This role requires effective classroom management skills, creativity in lesson planning, and a commitment to student success. The English Teacher will be responsible for developing curriculum, assessing student progress, and providing mentorship to students.
Duties
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with educational standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Teach various aspects of the English language, including grammar, composition, literature, and creative writing.
- Utilize learning technology to enhance instruction and facilitate student engagement.
- Mentor students in their academic pursuits, providing guidance in writing skills, research techniques, and standardized testing preparation.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and instructional design initiatives.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and methodologies.
- Engage in academic advising and support literacy education initiatives within the school community.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably with classroom experience in higher education or private schools.
- Familiarity with curriculum development processes and instructional design principles.
- Strong understanding of various writing styles including AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, and copy editing techniques.
- Experience in mentoring or tutoring students is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education practices or Montessori methods is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with strong organizational abilities are essential for success in this role.
