Overview
We are seeking an experienced, professional and reliable Class 1 or Class 2 Recovery Driver to join our growing team serving Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely recovering vehicles and equipment, ensuring timely and efficient recovery operations. This role requires a strong focus on safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to operate flatbed lorries and commercial vehicles. Prior experience in recovery or commercial driving is highly desirable. The position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment where safety and customer service are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle recovery for South Yorkshire Police
- Operate Class 1 lorries and recovery vehicles in accordance with all safety regulations and traffic laws
- Safely and professionally recover, transport, and deliver vehicles or equipment to designated locations
- Conduct vehicles inspections and report any maintenance issues
- Ensure all cargo is secured correctly during transit to prevent damage or accidents
- Yard duties across both sites
- Participate in scheduled on call shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols during recovery operations
- Assist with loading and unloading recovery equipment as required
What we are looking for
- Valid Class 1 or 2 (CE) driving licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a recovery driver or in commercial driving roles
- Knowledge of vehicle recovery procedures and equipment is advantageous
- Excellent driving skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills
- Must live in Sheffield, Rotherham or Doncaster areas
- Ability to pass CRB/DBS check and Police Vetting requirements
