Job Overview
The Lubrication Technician plays a critical role in asset reliability by ensuring all rotating and static equipment receives the correct lubrication at the right time, using best-practice lubrication and contamination-control techniques. The position is fundamental to reducing equipment failures, extending asset life, and supporting safe, reliable refinery operations.
Responsibilities
- Execute all assigned lubrication routines (daily, weekly, monthly) in line with defined schedules and standards
- Apply correct lubricant type, quantity, and frequency for each lubrication point
- Accurately record all lubrication activities, including condition found, quantities used, and follow-up actions
- Identify and escalate defects such as low oil levels, contamination, leaks, or incorrect setups
- Report abnormal equipment conditions including vibration, noise, temperature, leaks, contamination, and housekeeping issues
- Maintain lubricant storage, handling and dispensing equipment in accordance with contamination-control standards
- Ensure all lubrication activities are completed when access is available, coordinating with operations to maximise opportunities
- Provide clear daily updates on completed work, missed tasks, and outstanding issues
- Maintain high QA/QC standards, ensuring all work is verified before sign-off
- Support maintenance campaigns, flushes, and turnaround activities as required
- Actively contribute to improving lubrication routes, standards, and efficiency
- Take ownership of assigned areas and ensure consistent execution of lubrication routines
- Promote a structured, disciplined approach to lubrication aligned with site standards
- Comply with all refinery safety requirements, permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures and safe systems of work
Critical skills
- Strong IT literacy, with the ability to use and develop digital systems for recording, tracking, and reporting lubrication data
- Good understanding of lubrication fundamentals (greases, oils, contamination control)
- Experience in refinery or heavy industrial maintenance environment
- Ability to follow structured routines and adhere to defined standards
- Understanding of equipment lubrication requirements and basic failure modes
- Ability to accurately record, analyse, and communicate maintenance data
- Familiarity with SAP or equivalent maintenance systems (desirable)
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety guidelines accurately
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks, including climbing and lifting
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Forklift counterbalance license is desirable

Pay: £20.51 per hour
