HGV Technician
Location: Taunton
Salary: £55,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday – Day Shift
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy and well-established commercial vehicle workshop in Taunton. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician seeking a Monday-to-Friday day shift position with no weekend work and a highly competitive salary.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing heavy goods vehicles to the highest standards of safety, compliance and efficiency, ensuring vehicles remain roadworthy and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs
- Conduct PMI inspections in line with DVSA standards
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
- Service and repair diesel engines, fuel systems and cooling systems
- Maintain and repair air brake systems, ABS/EBS systems and brake chambers
- Complete axle, suspension and steering repairs
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections
- Ensure full compliance with road transport legislation and workshop procedures
- Accurately complete job cards and compliance documentation
- Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician or HGV Mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Good knowledge of DVSA regulations and safety standards
- Experience working on a range of HGV makes and models
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential)
