Arthur Branwell & Company Ltd was established in 1904. We develop, produce and supply an extensive range of high-quality ingredients to the world’s food and pharmaceutical industries as well as into a number of specialised technical application areas. These ingredients include a comprehensive range of texturants, tailored stabiliser blends, fully integrated emulsifier/stabiliser systems as well as products produced using our ground breaking cryogenic spray crystallisation technology. We also process and refine a number of specialised hydrocolloids and natural raw materials as well as supplying a range of semi-processed and prepared foods to manufacturers around the world. We also supply an extensive range of flavours and extracts. As well as manufacturing our own products, we undertake contract manufacturing for multi national corporations.

The role of Production Operative:
- Assist in the manufacture of food products to the established standards of safety, output, quality, and hygiene
- Work safely at all times in accordance with company Health & Safety policies, procedures, practices and legislation to correctly prepare packaging for food products with respect to container, label and coding
- Carry out cleaning schedules in the production and packaging area ensuring a very high standard of hygiene / sanitation is achieved
- Store, feed, mix, blend and package food products as appropriate, ensuring high standards of good manufacturing practice
- Pack/metal detect and inspect products
- Palletise, wrap and label finished goods as required
- Complete to the established standard all relevant process / food safety documentation
- Flexible in relieving other departments as required (eg for absence cover/fluctuations in demand)
- Ensure food safety, legality and quality requirements are met at all times
Experience required:
- Experience in a similar role, preferably within a food production/distribution environment and previous exposure to manual handling practices is preferred
Skills required include:
- Work as a team player

- Able to self-manage and work independently when necessary
- Able to think, communicate and present information effectively
- Performs well under pressure
- FLT licence is preferred (Counterbalance/Bendi)
Additional information:
- Location - Braintree, CM7 2SD
- Working hours (days) - 43 per week (7:15am-5:15pm Mon-Thurs, 7:15am-3:15pm Fri, with 1 hour unpaid break each day).
- Salary (days) - The first 39 hours per week are paid at £13.50 per hour and the remaining 4 hours per week are paid at £20.25 per hour
- Flexibility may be required to cover late shift occasionally (enhanced hourly rate applies) - 40 hours per week (3:30pm-11:30pm Mon-Thurs, 2:30pm-10:30pm Fri, with 30 mins unpaid break each day).
- 25 days holiday (plus bank hols), increasing by 1 day each January, up to max of 28 days
- This role involves physical exertion, including lifting 25kg boxes and working at heights
