We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Activities Co-ordinator to enrich the lives of our residents by planning and implementing engaging recreational programs. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for senior care, with experience in activity planning, recreational therapy, and working with individuals with disabilities. As an Activities Co-ordinator, you will create meaningful experiences that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate diverse activity programs tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities.
- Facilitate social events, outings, and therapeutic activities that foster community engagement and enhance residents’ quality of life.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess individual resident preferences and capabilities, ensuring activities are inclusive and accessible.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during recreational sessions to promote independence.
- Manage scheduling of activities efficiently to ensure consistent delivery while accommodating residents’ routines.
- Maintain detailed records of participation, progress, and resident feedback to continuously improve program offerings.
- Provide guidance on aging issues counseling and support for residents experiencing cognitive or physical challenges.
Experience>
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living or nursing home environments.
- Prior work in long-term care settings with a focus on dementia care, memory care, or senior care is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care strategies, and working with individuals with disabilities is essential.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and team members.
- Experience assisting with ADLs and managing activity schedules in a caregiving context.
- Knowledge of aging issues counseling, social work principles, and home & community care practices is advantageous.
