DCL Business Services Ltd are an outsourced provider of HR and Health & Safety services. We deliver HR advice and support to our client base of SMEs throughout the UK and across all industry sectors. (With a strong presence in the East Midlands and with a high percentage of clients being Medical Practices.)
Due to our growing client base we are looking to recruit a full-time HR Consultant to work alongside our existing consultants.
We are seeking an experienced HR Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide expert advice and support on various HR functions to our clients, ensuring compliance with employment laws and best practices.
The Role
This is a challenging, high-level consultancy role suited to a professional who can operate autonomously and handle complex, high-volume workloads. You will provide expert guidance to clients, whether they have internal HR departments or none, necessitating a sophisticated and adaptable advisory style.
Key Responsibilities
● Strategic Advisory: Operate at a high level to provide quality service. Influence senior stakeholders and build trusting, long-term relationships with clients.
● Complex Case Management: Manage the full spectrum of employee relations, ranging from drafting basic documentation to preparing robust, complex outcome letters written to help mitigate future claims.
● Process Management & Meetings: You must be confident and competent to manage processes on behalf of clients, including chairing meetings directly.
● Problem Solving & Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify process gaps and risks. Challenge processes in a diplomatic manner, providing clear actions to move forwards.
● Expert Support: Provide daily advice via phone and email on matters including but not limited to TUPE, redundancy, collective consultation, settlement agreements, performance management, and disciplinary/grievance procedures, sickness absence management.
● Reputation Management: Strive to maintain the excellent reputation of DCL Business Services through meticulous attention to detail and high-quality, professional outputs.
● Autonomy: Work independently to manage your caseload while demonstrating the professional judgement to know when additional legal assistance from colleagues is required.
What You Bring
● A strong background in Employment Law and HR (15+ years preferred).
● A dedicated HR or legal professional with a passion for delivering high-quality people centred services.
● Demonstrable ability to problem-solve and influence at a senior level.
● Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand the business impact of HR decisions and provide advice that aligns with client commercial objectives.
● Genuine passion for helping people and delivering first-class service.
● Experience operating in environments where decisions are based on risk evaluation and professional judgment.
● Excellent written skills, with a focus on accuracy and drafting preventative, robust documentation.
● Adaptability to work with all clients regardless of the business size or internal HR infrastructure.
● Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for client meetings.
● Relevant HR or legal qualification.
Key Competencies
● Excellent written skills and experience of drafting outcome letters and settlement agreements or COT3s.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to successfully build and maintain longstanding, effective and trusting client relationships.
● A flexible and adaptable approach to changing workloads.
● The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and respond promptly to requests using own initiative and balancing urgency.
● Experience of working in environments where decisions are made based on risk evaluation and professional judgement.
● Experience in policy and contract drafting.
● A genuine interest in HR and enthusiasm to deliver a first-class service to our client base.

Pay: £43,500.00-£49,000.00 per year
