We are seeking a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Playgroup Assistant to join our playgroup team. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to support the delivery of fun, safe and educational sessions for children aged 2 yrs 10 months - 4 years.
The successful candidate will assist in supervising children, setting up activities and creating a warm, inclusive environment where every child can learn, play and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
· Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate play and learning activities.
· Help set up and pack away toys, equipment, and resources before and after sessions.
· Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play to ensure safety and well-being.
· Promote positive behaviour and social interaction among children.
· Assist with snacks, toileting, and hygiene routines as required.
· Maintain a clean and tidy play environment.
· Build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
· Observe and record children's development in line with early years curriculum.
· Ensure that safeguarding and health & safety policies are followed at all times.
· Participate in team meetings and relevant training opportunities.
Working Hours- 22.5 per week (Term Time)
Monday 8:30am-2pm, Tuesday 8:30am-12:30pm, Wednesday 8:30am-1pm, Thursday 8:30am-12:30pm, Friday 8:30am-1pm.
Essential Criteria
· Level 3 Childcare Qualification Desirable / Level 2 Childcare Qualification Essential
· Minimum 6 months experience working with children in an early years setting.
(If an individual has appropriate experience in an early years setting but does not hold the relevant childcare qualification consideration may be given for shortlisting however, they must be committed to commencing training within 6 months due to registration requirements for the post).
· Good understanding of child development and the needs of young children.
· Ability to work within a team.
· Knowledge of the NI Preschool Curriculum
· Understanding of safeguarding procedures
Desirable Criteria
· Any additional early years related training
