Robocode is looking for a calm, decisive, process-driven Centre Manager to run the day to day operation of our flagship centre in Shirley. This is not a back-office admin job. You are the link between strategy and delivery, the person who makes sure that every class, every payment, every rota and every parent conversation is handled properly, every single day. When the centre runs well, it is because of you.
About Robocode
We teach children aged 6 to 17 real technology skills: coding, robotics, game development, AI and more. Our purpose is simple. We move children from being consumers of technology to creators of it.
- More than 22,000 young people have learned with us to date, with 400 plus attending every week.
- Our students earn recognised qualifications, including BCS Level 1 and Level 2, and GCSE Computer Science. Some have passed GCSE Computer Science as young as ten.
- We operate centres in Shirley, Leicester and Liverpool, and we are still growing.
Shirley is our flagship. It sets the standard the rest of the company follows, which is exactly why this role matters.
What you will own
The centre, day to day. You make sure the centre opens on time, runs smoothly, and that every session happens without a hitch. If something goes wrong, you are the first to know and the first to put it right.
Money and accounts. You keep on top of every family's payments and subscriptions, track outstanding balances, and follow up overdue accounts promptly and professionally, in line with company policy. We always know exactly who has paid and who has not, because you keep the records accurate.
People and scheduling. You build the weekly staff schedule, approve shift submissions, and make sure every class is properly staffed. You monitor attendance and punctuality, address performance issues early and fairly, and apply company policies consistently so everyone is treated the same. You arrange cover for holidays and absences before they become a problem.
Admin and records. You run the admin function and hold it to a high standard: registers, communications, records and internal systems, all accurate and all kept up to date in our app. Accurate data is not optional in this role. It is the job.
Parents and customer care. You are the calm, professional point of contact when a parent has a question or a complaint. You resolve issues quickly, keep parents close, and protect the relationships the business is built on. Every absent child is followed up the same day.
Delivery and quality. You make sure classes run without errors and to a consistently high standard. You keep an eye on teaching quality and classroom organisation, and you step in to arrange cover and keep delivery seamless.
What success looks like
Within your first few months, and then every week after:
- Registers, records and the app are accurate and up to date, every day.
- No class is missed, double booked or under staffed.
- Every absent child is called the same day they miss a session.
- Overdue balances are chased consistently and brought down.
- Parents feel heard, and concerns are resolved before they escalate.
- The team always knows its schedule in advance, and standards are applied fairly and calmly.
Who you are
Essential
- Organised and process-driven. You like systems, and you keep them tight.
- Calm under pressure, and comfortable making decisions.
- Confident managing people, including setting standards and handling performance fairly.
- Comfortable with numbers, accounts and chasing payments.
- A clear, warm communicator with both parents and staff.
- Reliable, punctual and present. This is a full time, on site role.
- Hold the right to work in the UK.
Helpful, but not essential
- Experience running a centre, school, nursery, clinic, gym or similar people and customer operation.
- A background in education or children's activities.
- Familiarity with scheduling, CRM or admin software.
What we offer
- From £26,500 a year, depending on experience.
- Full time, 40 hours a week, based at our flagship Shirley centre.
- A genuine seat at the table. You run the centre the whole company is built around.
- Real room to grow. We are opening new centres, and we promote from within.
- Work that matters: helping children become creators, not just consumers of technology.
