A leading international law firm is seeking an associate / senior associate (3+ PQE,) to join its London team, focusing on high-value international construction and infrastructure disputes.
This is an opportunity within a well known international law firm. The practice is particularly well known for the work it does on high value disputes cases arising from infrastructure, energy, engineering and large-scale development projects.
The Practice
The team advises on some of the most technically demanding construction disputes in the market, frequently involving:
- Delay, disruption and extension of time claims
- Complex quantum and damages modelling
- Defective works and technical design issues
- EPC and concession agreement disputes
- Multi-contract and multi-party project structures
- Proceedings seated in major arbitral centres
Matters are typically international in scope.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a substantive role in ongoing arbitrations, including:
- Developing case theory and strategy from an early stage
- Drafting key written submissions and pleadings
- Working closely with delay and quantum experts
- Managing large factual and technical records
- Preparing witnesses and experts for hearing
- Attending and supporting at evidentiary hearings
This role offers meaningful responsibility in complex, document-heavy and expert-driven construction disputes, rather than a peripheral supporting function.
Candidate Profile
Suitable candidates are likely to have:
- 3+ years’ experience (6+ for senior applicants) in international arbitration or high-value construction disputes
- Direct experience of delay, disruption and/or quantum-heavy matters
- Familiarity with major project documentation (e.g. EPC contracts, bespoke amendments, multi-tier dispute clauses)
- Experience working with technical experts
- Strong academic credentials
