Job Purpose
As a Grade 6 Educational Teaching Assistant, your role is wonderfully varied and central to our classroom success. You will closely support class teachers in raising the learning and attainment of all pupils. Whether working with the whole class, leading small groups, or providing targeted one-to-one support, you will help unlock each child's full potential.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Classroom Support:
Assist class teachers by preparing lesson materials, creating engaging displays, and setting up or tidying classrooms.
Help plan and monitor pupil learning as directed, ensuring progress is clearly recorded against learning objectives.
Ensure classroom equipment and materials are suitable and safe for the designated learning activities.
Pupil Progression & Inclusion:
Provide one-to-one or small group support on pre-planned activities to reinforce core curriculum skills.
Actively encourage the inclusion of all pupils, including those with special educational needs, helping them access the National Curriculum.
Implement behaviour plans, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and intervention strategies to maximize pupil achievements.
Behaviour & Welfare:
Promote good behaviour and deal promptly with conflicts or incidents using positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
Attend to the personal care, comfort, and minor medical treatments of pupils (such as toileting and intimate care) following school guidance.
Provide vital lunchtime cover to safely supervise pupils during indoor and outdoor activities.
Professional Collaboration:
Contribute to formal reviews by writing clear reports on pupil progress and attendance.
Build strong professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and school stakeholders.
Support school life outside the classroom by assisting with educational visits, school trips, or running clubs.
Help with the induction and mentoring of new staff members as required.
Our school community is deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Any offer of employment is subject to standard health screening and satisfactory clearance by an occupational health physician.
