We are looking for a Driver's Mate to join a great company in Bedford.
- Shift - Monday until Friday 6am start, may finish between 2pm-6pm
- Pay - £12.71ph
- Location - MK42
Overview
You work alongside a delivery driver, helping deliver drinks (beer, wine, spirits, soft drinks) to pubs, bars, restaurants, and hotels. It’s a physical, customer-facing logistics role with early starts and multi-drop routes.
Main Duties
- Assist driver with multi-drop deliveries to hospitality venues
- Load and unload heavy stock (kegs, cases, crates)
- Help with route navigation and directions
- Support with vehicle manoeuvring (banksman role when reversing etc.)
- Check deliveries with customers and handle paperwork / handheld devices
- Deal with customer queries or missing items
- Maintain health & safety standards at all times
Physical & Work Conditions
- Heavy lifting is a big part of the job (kegs can be 50kg+)
- Early starts (often 5–6am) and finish times vary depending on route
- Fast-paced, sometimes long days
- Mostly Monday–Friday, occasional peak-season weekends
Requirements / Skills
- Good level of fitness and stamina
- Team player – working closely with the driver
- Basic numeracy & literacy (checking orders)
- Good customer service skills
- Comfortable using handheld tech/scanners
- Must meet legal age requirements (alcohol handling)
