Job Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working individual the opportunity to join our Night Shift Operations team (nights) as Warehouse Manager. As a Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our warehouse facility. This includes managing a team, coordinating logistics, and ensuring efficient and accurate handling of materials in a timely fashion and to the standards required by the business.
The chosen candidate will need to be a versatile individual who is comfortable working in our refrigerated warehouse. A team player, who can manage their time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed on time. Works well with their colleagues throughout the business.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team of warehouse employees, providing guidance and support
- Coordinate and prioritize daily activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
- Oversee the receiving, storage, and distribution of materials in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and audits
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize warehouse operations and improve overall efficiency
- Train new employees on warehouse processes and procedures
- Utilize warehouse management systems to track inventory and manage orders
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during warehouse operations
- Preparing orders for our business customers. Maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Work with our transport team to ensure timely dispatch every morning.
- Picking and checking orders for errors.
- Helping to manage our stockroom setup.
- Highlighting issues to Customer Services.
- Compliance with all regulations including HACCP and Health & Safety.
- Reporting to the Head of Operations.
- Various ad-hoc duties as required
- Carry out Regular Stock Taking
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of logistics and warehouse operations
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems
- Experience in team management, including training, coaching, and performance evaluation
- Familiarity with business processes related to inventory control, shipping/receiving, and materials handling
- Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong problem-solving abilities to address issues that may arise during warehouse operations
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required
Prior experience in the meat or food sector is desirable but candidates looking for a new challenge will be considered.
Proficiency with computers and is essential.
You must either be qualified to drive a fork-lift and/or electric pallet truck, or willing to be trained.
You must have a full and valid UK drivers license.
HACCP and Health & Safety qualifications or experience is desirable but not essential.
Having delivery operations 7 days a week is an important aim for the business. To achieve this some weekend or extended working hours will be involved.
The standard shifts are 5 days a week with an additional 6th day on a Rota basis within the team.
The role requires working extensively in a cold store environment.
