Due to the client's individual care and support needs, this role is restricted to female applicants under the provisions of Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, where gender is considered a Genuine Occupational Requirement.
Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle, as the role involves supporting the client within the community, attending appointments, collecting medication, and facilitating social and recreational activities.
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and confident Complex Care Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to an adult female living independently within the community.
The client has an acquired brain injury and complex emotional support needs and requires continuous support to promote her safety, wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
This is a long-term package where consistency and relationship-building are key. The successful candidate will support the client both at home and within the community, helping her maintain routines, engage in meaningful activities, attend appointments, and achieve personal goals.
The role includes:
Medication prompting and administration
Monitoring health and wellbeing
Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive coping strategies
Attending appointments and community activities
Encouraging social engagement and independence
Prompting and supporting personal care where required
Supporting with domestic tasks and daily routines
Maintaining accurate records and documentation
Following care plans, risk assessments, and PBS strategies
Collecting prescribed medication from the local pharmacy
The client values trust, reliability, punctuality, and positive relationships. She responds well to a calm, patient, and reassuring approach and enjoys spending time in the community, going for drives, maintaining routines, and spending time with her pets.
The client lives with two small dogs, therefore applicants must be comfortable working around pets.
The ideal candidate will be:
Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
Confident working independently on a 1:1 basis
Reliable and highly punctual
Skilled at building professional relationships and rapport
Able to maintain clear boundaries while providing person-centred support
Comfortable supporting individuals who may experience emotional distress or behavioural challenges
Passionate about promoting independence and improving quality of life
Minimum 6 months' hands-on care experience within a UK care setting or through significant family support
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Female applicant (Genuine Occupational Requirement applies)
Strong communication and record-keeping skills
Comfortable working in a home environment with dogs
Experience supporting individuals with:
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
Mental health needs
Learning disabilities
Behavioural support needs
Complex care requirements
Medication administration and management
This role would particularly suit candidates with previous experience in complex care, brain injury support, mental health support, behavioural support, or community-based care.
