Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced and fully qualified HGV Mechanic to join our expanding maintenance team.
Please note: This position is only suitable for experienced, qualified HGV Technicians/Mechanics. Applications from candidates without relevant HGV maintenance experience will not be considered.
We operate a growing transport fleet consisting of articulated vehicles, walking floor trailers, bulk tippers and specialist equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our own fleet as well as carrying out work for a growing portfolio of external maintenance customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs and trailers.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
- Perform MOT preparation and defect rectification.
- Repair and replace engines, gearboxes, braking systems, suspension components and driveline assemblies.
- Undertake welding, fabrication and general workshop repairs when required.
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve vehicle faults efficiently.
- Complete job cards and maintenance records accurately.
- Ensure all work is carried out to DVSA standards and in accordance with health and safety requirements.
- Attend breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.
Essential Requirements
- Fully qualified HGV Mechanic/Technician (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent preferred).
- Proven experience working on HGVs and trailers.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
- Good understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- HGV Licence advantageous but not essential.
Desirable Skills
- Welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience working on walking floor trailers, tippers and commercial vehicle fleets.
- LOLER and lifting equipment knowledge.
- Forklift and plant maintenance experience.
